So, my younger brother brought up an interesting point today. Let me begin by reciting the story he told me:
A doctoral student at MIT, who later found fame in the field of computer technology, stated on a later occasion, when prompted with a question, that he never got around to finishing his thesis.
At the time, his decision to drop out of University may have been met with criticism from his colleagues who's views on education would have most probably been comparable to those of most doctoral students: where the acquisition of a post-graduate education in a field of their choice will lead to higher earnings.
This view is held by a large multitude of people, especially in our recovering economy, who are seeking monetary and occupational security.
On the topic of hopes and dreams, however, it is quite common for individuals from every walk of life to drop out of college or high school in the pursuit of their goals and ambitions. Though it is uncommon for these risks to reap any reward, the few times in history where a Bill Gates or a Mark Zuckerberg have been so captivated by an idea that it has driven them to commit actions which, to the rest of us, seem folly in comparison to conventional thought and wisdom, shine as beacons of hope and fuel for our own aspirations
